Play.com voted best mobile commerce website

Play.com mobile survey results

Following a mystery shopper survey by eDigital Play.com (with user experience design by Splendid) has been crowned the best mobile ecommerce site.

This suggests that people prefer viewing a normal website on their phone rather than a mobile version (I know I do) and the site beat some pretty hefty competition as you can see in the screen shot.

We also designed the National Express website so its nice to have two of our designs in the top ten.

A Splendid Microsoft Surface project for ResMed

ResMed Microsoft Surface App ResMed Microsoft Surface App

Our latest Microsoft Surface project is for leading medical equipment innovator ResMed.

ResMed are a global leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of innovative medical products for the treatment and management of respiratory disorders, with a focus on Sleep-Disordered Breathing.

The ResMed application draws on all the key features of Surface such as multi-user multi-touch and object recognition. We use the last feature in two ways;

We have a custom invite that is sent to users after signing up online and specifying their interests, the invite then pulls up a personal experience for that user when the invite is placed on the Surface device.

We have also tagged the masks so that when a user places these on the Surface device it brings up the detailed product information and allows them to explore the mask in more detail.

The application was deployed to a large trade show in Germany.

The Splendid team were at the eBay Developers Conference in sunny San Jose last week, talking about our work with eBay, having catch up with our US clients and catching the keynotes about eBays plans for the coming year.

Splendid travelled to San Jose California in June to be part of the eBay Developer Conference, highlighting the work Splendid has done for the eBay C.S.A. team Silverlight 4.

The Dev Con is an intimate event allowing senior eBay management to connection with the people that work with them as affiliates as well as companies like Splendid that work directly for eBay as suppliers. Of particular interest was the keynote session by Mark Carges, eBay C.T.O. where he outlined the changes implemented in the eBay API of the past 12 months including improved sandboxing as well as plans to extend the API further in the coming year. Advanced analytics was also a hot topic at the event with participants enjoying the discussions around advancements to the API to allow adaptive selling to take place at an even faster rate within the eBay market place.
