GNER Site is now live
After working with Splendid and Flow Interactive over the last year the new GNER site has gone live, after following our joint User Centered Design Process. The brief to the team was to create the ultimate in travel booking that would work for a full cross section of users, young and old.
To support the new booking engine the main site has also been redesigned allowing users to get all the details they need to know about their journey and destination.
Major rail operator GNER has launched its own online ticketing service, a move that will see it step away from TheTrainline. The East Coast franchise-holder has revealed the service - the first time the company has sold its own tickets - as part of a complete overhaul of its website.

To get the app search for heatworld on facebook and to see the site go here.
We are working on quite a few Facebook apps at the moment so keep your eyes peeled for our work soon.

We have been doing some Silverlight work for Microsoft
When Microsoft ask you to do Silverlight work for them you know you must be doing something right. We have been working with Silverlight and its predecessors for about a year now and this skill has not gone unnoticed by the chaps from Redmond.
We have just completed a project using Silverlight for the NHS team over at Microsoft that will give a real time status report on all all the projects the team are working on, this features dynamic graphs and stats all using the power of Microsoft Silverlight.
This Project is part of an ongoing initiative to deliver exciting and usable user interfaces using emerging MS technologies and builds on our work designing and developing Vista Gadgets.
For more information on what we are doing with Microsoft Silverlight please contact dan@howsplendid.com or for the wider Microsoft relationship please contact paul@howsplendid.com

Team Splendid presenting at MixUK with wayn.com
Well I say team Splendid but it was really Dan Morris working the crowd in his usual dynamic style. We were asked by Microsoft to present the work we have been doing with www.wayn.com and the new IM Me technology. This was the first UK showing for this extension to what Instant messenger can do, its all about getting IM embedded in a page, showing users presence and allowing people to talk using IM within a web page. Its the future!
We will be posting a full video and detailed case study on this soon and showcasing all the Windows Live services it uses. In the meantime here are some screenshots.
The events already happened but we couldn't talk about it before hand, all hush hush, need to know etc.
And there will be moving pictures of Dan doing his thing here

we have gone all orange, more work with easyJet
easyJet, Europe's leading low-fares airlines, has today become the first major European airline to offer its customers the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions of their flights by investing exclusively in United Nations-certified projects.
easyJet is already one of Europe's most environmentally efficient airlines and operates one of the most modern fleets of any major airline in Europe consisting of 137 of the cleanest, quietest aircraft available with an average age of just 2.3 years. easyJet's efficient business model (higher seat densities and higher load factors) means that traditional airlines emit nearly 27% more emissions per passenger kilometre than easyJet flying the same aircraft on similar routes.
And Splendid and Flow Interactive had the pleasure of designing and building the site that allows easyJet customers to calculate their carbon footprint.

Splendid meet Gordon Brown at Number 10 Downing Street
Splendid had the pleasure of being invited to Downing Street on Tuesday to celebrate the launch of Horsesmouth. We mingled with celebs (people like June Sarpong, Richard E Grant and Sir Digby Jones to drop a few names) and the team at Horsesmouth namely MT Rainey and Nigel Pocklington (pictured above) in Downing Street, and I must say they have lovely choice of wine and some damn fine nibbles. We even got t speak to the PM.
Oh and its much bigger than you think inside, bit like a Tardis...
