Splendid have been working with JCDecaux Airports to deliver a Microsoft Surface solution to Heathrow Terminal 5 to allow passengers to interact with the Tag Heuer brand.
Two 'Surface Units' carrying TAG Heuer content will be installed in Terminal 5's gateroom and lounge, reaching passengers when they have time on their hands and are in the right mindset to interact. The tables are provided with a custom developed Surface Application and will allow passengers to find destination-specific tourist information as well details of TAG Heuer watches and global retailers.
The Tag Heuer Surface application has three main areas of functionality, all driven by the concept of time;
Travel Guide: The application displays the current time at your departure destination, displayed on a Tag Heuer watch display with moving hands. Using a stylized world map passengers can choose popular destinations and explore local time, travel duration and view local landmarks.
Sports Finder: Tag Heuer have a number of sports stars as ambassadors, we chose Lewis Hamilton as the trial location was the UK. Passengers can explore the world find the next Grand Prix including a countdown and images of last years race.
Watch Explorer: A Tag Heuer Application wouldn't be quite right without the ability to explore their classic watch collection, passengers can use gesture to explore high-res images of the men's and women's collections with the ability to sign-up for an email on your favorite watch. The email contains details of the watch and your nearest location to purchase.
The Surface application was developed in close collaboration with Tag Heuer to get that crafted and quality feel you expect from a leading brand.
Richard Malton Marketing Director of JCDecaux said, "We are delighted to be working with TAG Heuer and Splendid to bring this exciting new advertising opportunity to Heathrow. There is huge creative flexibility - for a mobile phone advertiser the 'Surface Unit' could identify passengers' phones on the table and display information about newer models. We have already calls from interested clients and are considering rolling out the 'Surface Units' to further airport terminals in the future. Business travelers are the world's early adopters, so airports are the natural choice for this outstanding new communications channel."
